WATAUGA COUNTY, N.C. — The Watauga Humane Society is asking for the public's help finding a forever home for one of its sweetest, most patient residents. Meet Kai, an 8-year-old dog who's been at the shelter for 333 days. His heartbreaking story sets him apart from most of the shelter's animals. He had a home, a loving dad and "all the belly rubs he could ask for," but one day things changed, and Kai found himself at the shelter.

VALLE CRUCIS — The Valle Crucis Conference Center has announced a new trail leading to Crab Orchard Falls at the Valle Crucis Conference Center. The new trailhead is approximately 50 feet from the existing trailhead, and adds a quarter-mile to the distance between the VCCC main campus and Crab Orchard Falls.
