Pinpoint Weather: Heat and humidity return

ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR ) – Heat and humidity will build across the region as high-pressure slides to the east.

Temperatures begin to increase on Wednesday with lows in the 50s and 60s and highs in the 80s and 90s.

In addition to temperatures rising, humidity levels are going up as well with muggy conditions returning on Wednesday and tropical conditions by Thursday.

With the increase in heat and humidity, showers and thunderstorms will return starting on Thursday. There is a risk that some could become strong to severe during the afternoon and evening hours. Strong winds will be the main threat.

Temperatures will remain hot through the end of the week into the weekend and the start of next week as high temperatures will be in the low to mid-90s.

In the tropics, Hurricane Beryl remains a strong Category 4 storm with winds of 150 mph. It will move near or over Jamaica on Wednesday. Wind speeds should decrease over the next couple of days as wind shear increases.
