    Pinpoint Weather: Storms likely as heat continues

    ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR ) – Showers and thunderstorms will return to the region on Wednesday ahead of a cold front.

    Some storms during the afternoon and evening could become severe. Strong wind gusts are the main threat. The potential for severe weather is highest between noon and 10 p.m.

    Heat and humidity are expected to stick around for one more day. Temperatures on Wednesday will start in the 60s and 70s, rising into the 80s and 90s during the afternoon.

    Behind the cold front, temperatures will drop back into the 80s starting on Thursday. Cooler air will remain in place for Friday, the weekend, and early next week. There will be a daily chance for hit-or-miss showers and thunderstorms.
