Pinpoint Weather: Showers likely Monday, few storms

ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR ) — A series of disturbances will bring unsettled weather to Southwest and Central Virginia for the week ahead. Hotter temperatures are on the way.

A damp Monday is anticipated across the region. Showers are likely with some thunderstorms possible. While the severe threat is low, isolated strong storms may produce gusty winds. Repeated rounds of rain and periods of heavy rainfall could lead to localized flooding concerns. When it isn’t raining, mostly cloudy skies will be overhead. Highs will be in the cooler 70s and lower 80s.

Another disturbance arrives on Tuesday, bringing more scattered showers and storms. Moderate to heavy rainfall is possible at times. Expect mostly cloudy skies with afternoon highs in the 80s.

The daily potential for scattered showers and storms will remain in the forecast through the weekend. Not everyone will see rain every day, but there is a greater chance for showers and storms to develop each afternoon and early evening. The main concern is repeated rounds of heavy rainfall leading to localized flooding.

Temperatures will trend hotter as the week continues. Starting Wednesday, afternoon temperatures will range from the warmer-than-average mid-80s into the mid-90s. Morning lows will be in the warm upper 60s and 70s.
