Holy Ghost Parish welcomes new priest
The parish family of Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church, Jessup, recently welcomed Father Timothy and Pani Angela Kennedy to their church. Originally from New Jersey, Father Tim recently completed his studies at the Byzantine Catholic Seminary in Pittsburgh. He holds a Master's in Theology with a concentration in ministerial leadership. He graduated with honors and was ordained by Bishop Kurt Burnette into the priesthood on May 25, 2024. Father Tim was a deacon for 13 years, serving parishes in New Jersey and Florida.

NEPA man arrested for attacking police officer
An Edwardsville man was arrested after punching and pushing a police officer down the stairs, According to police. Joshua Hall faces aggravated assault charges after a disturbance was reported in his home on Monday afternoon. Hall then allegedly lunged at the police officer, punching her in the face, and pushing her down a flight of stairs, before fleeing on foot. Hall was later arrested by Kingston and Plymouth officers. The officer was transported to Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for the injuries to the left side of her face and her right knee. Hall was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and evading arrest, and is being held without bail.

Luzerne County man sentencing for killing his father
A Luzerne County man was sentenced to up to 30 years in prison Tuesday after pleading no contest to homicide charges. 32 year old Kevin Novak faced the prospect of life behind bars if convicted at trial in the slaying of his father, 70-year-old Richard Novak, who was gunned down at their home in Nanticoke in 2022. Novak did not address the court prior to the Judge sentencing him to 12-30 years in state prison for the crime.
