Jeremy Renner’s Longtime L.A. Home Hits the Market for $13 Million

A little over a decade ago, Jeremy Renner acquired a 1960s abode in the Hollywood Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles. There, in what he has referred to as his “forever home,” the veteran film and TV actor and prolific real estate developer added a wealth of particularly lavish personal touches. He also spent time recuperating from a horrific snowplow accident that occurred at his Nevada residence in early 2023 and nearly cost him his life.

“I split my time between a house in Lake Tahoe and my home in Los Angeles,” Renner said on his Tumblr account awhile back. “In both, I spent money on things I wouldn’t have done in a spec home. I installed a massive solar-panel package that’s one of the biggest in L.A. You’d never do that on a house you’re going to sell, because it takes four or five years to get your money back on the investment. I wouldn’t have built a giant lagoon with a dive bridge and waterfall sculpted by the guys who do it for the San Diego Zoo. That’s a little too radical for some buyers, but I’m building a house I’m going to live in for the rest of my years. It’s about my taste and my desires.”

But that was then! Now, 12 years later, the Mayor of Kingstown star has opted to part with his longtime home and has the place up for sale, asking a smidge under $13 million—or around $9 million more than he paid back in spring 2012. Per The Wall Street Journal , which first reported the news, Renner extensively renovated the premises during his tenure to the tune of about $5.5 million, most notably more than doubling the size of the house while being sure to retain its midcentury roots. He also added a detached recording studio and graded the sloped lot to allow for more functional outdoor space.

Originally built in the early 1960s, the low-slung structure is tucked securely behind walls and gates amid a cul-de-sac parcel of land spanning over an acre within the Nichols Canyon area, near Runyon Canyon Park. A total of six bedrooms and nine baths are spread across 4,000 square feet of open-concept living space, which is adorned throughout with dark gray polished floors, wood-beam ceilings dotted with clerestory windows and skylights, and Fleetwood sliding glass doors providing seamless indoor/outdoor environs.

Especially standing out is a mirror-lined living area boasting an eye-catching fireplace and a snazzy bar. Other highlights include a screening room and a formal dining space that connects to a gourmet kitchen hosting dual islands, top-notch stainless appliances (including a pricey La Cornue range), a walk-in pantry, and an accompanying breakfast nook with banquette seating. A spacious primary suite flaunts a private wraparound balcony, dual closets, and a luxe bath.

Four additional en-suite bedrooms all have access to the picturesque grounds, which are spotlighted by a pool and spa with bridges and waterfalls, as well as plenty of spots that are ideal for al fresco lounging and entertaining. A separate guesthouse with an en-suite bedroom and an attached three-car garage also can be found on the property, which is listed by Rayni Williams and Branden Williams of The Beverly Hills Estates.

According to WSJ , the 53-year-old Northern California native and two-time Oscar-nominated actor is selling because he is looking to downsize and focus on his recovery. “I need to kind of move on to other things,” said Renner, who recently wrapped filming of the latest season of the TV series Mayor of Kingstown and is gearing up to work on a book about his near-death experience and recovery.
