This sprawling Ohio compound has just about every feature you can think of, and then some. The 24-acre amenity-packed estate just east of Cleveland in the rural and wealthy village of Hunting Valley, Ohio, recently hit the market for a cool $14 million, making it the second most expensive single-family home currently on the market in the state of Ohio.

The current owners purchased the property in 2000, soon tapped architect Tony Paskovich, and spent three years and $12 million to bring their vision of a private, resort-like idyll to life. The property has a total of nine bedrooms and 12 bathrooms across its various structures. The 11,000-square-foot gambrel-roofed main residence is complemented by a guest house, a vintage farmhouse , a carriage house, and a historic one-room schoolhouse, which has been converted into an office. The schoolhouse and carriage house were built in the early 1900s and moved to the property from a different location in the 1930s by a previous owner.

For the redesign of the circa 1989 main house, the owners were inspired by European hunting lodges, specifically those in the English countryside, and decorated the home with rustic flair. The five-bedroom main home is accessed through a stained glass door and continues into a turreted foyer with a fireplace at the entry.

The great room is wrapped in rich wood paneling and great expanses of mullioned windows.

The wood-paneled great room features vaulted wood-beamed ceilings with a fireplace, built-in bookshelves, custom wrought-iron chandeliers, a games area, and a full bar. Expansive windows overlook the manicured gardens, and French doors step out to a terrace for al fresco dining and relaxing. Off the great room is a communal kitchen with a large dining table, massive eat-in center island, and a concrete sink sourced from Vermont. Other rooms include a formal dining room; a family room; a games room; a hunting trophy room called the Scotch Lodge; a solarium; a gym; and an indoor pool with a full locker room and, somewhat unexpectedly, a fireplace. Design details include hand-blown glass features, custom stained glass windows and doors, solid brass doorknobs, and fireplaces in nearly every room.

The amenities continue at the neighboring one-bedroom guest house, which has a modern farmhouse-style feel. It includes a nice-sized great room with a kitchen, plus a bedroom with overhead skylights and whitewashed shiplap walls. There’s a bit of a surprise in the guest house basement: an English pub-style bar with an outside entrance and a real tin ceiling. Jewel-toned banquets, a fireplace, wood-paneled walls, and a wet bar with seating round off the party-friendly space. The entertaining options continue on the outside, where there’s a heated brick terrace with an outdoor kitchen, fireplace, and pizza oven.

The eat-in kitchen flows into a comfortable family room.

Elsewhere are the old schoolhouse-turned-office; a three-bedroom and 1.5-bath renovated farmhouse; and a detached two-car garage with an additional bedroom and a bath for a caretaker or overflow guests. A barn complex comprising four stables, a hayloft, a greenhouse, and two garages for farm vehicles and other equipment is ideal for equestrian lovers. Animal lovers can further dive in with the on-site Accoyo alpaca farm that consists of two alpacas and four Tunisian sheep that will be sold with the property. The alpaca farm has been significantly scaled down over the years but is still active.

The extraordinary effort to create a self-contained playground for family and friends means the property has three fish-stocked ponds, tennis courts (yes, plural), basketball and pickleball courts, and a fire pit. Come winter, there’s even a sledding hill with lights. Seclusion is a priority here, and the property buffers 250 acres of protected land, so you’ll feel worlds away from both neighbors and the hustle and bustle of Cleveland. The home is listed with Cici Riley of Howard Hanna Real Estate Services/Luxury Portfolio International.
