The new Volkswagen ID. Buzz has yet to go on sale in the U.S. but people are already converting it into camper vans.

Peace Vans has just unveiled a slew of conversion kits that will help outdoor lovers turn the German marque’s latest fan into the go-to camping EV. The Seattle-based company currently offers three upfit packages, all of which were designed were custom-built for the battery-powered van.

It was only a matter of time until someone gave the ID. Buzz the camper van treatment. The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter may be the current chassis base of choice for those who live the #vanlife, but the Microbus, the VW that inspired the company’s latest EV, is easily the most iconic camper van of all time. And now, it seems, its successor is ready to take its place.

    Inside the Buzz.Camper

Volkswagen has given Peace Vans plenty of room to work with since the ID. Buzz has a 126.7-inch wheelbase and comes with three rows of seats standard. The first two kits, the Buzz.Box (pictures up top) and Buzz.Box.Sleeper requires the removal of the third row. The former combines a kitchenette with plenty of extra storage. The latter features all this plus a sleeping platform that, when the second row of seats is folded down, has room for a queen-size mattress. The base Buzz.Box is best for day trips, while the Sleeper supports a full weekend on the road.

The kit best suited to anyone looking for serious road-tripping is the Buzz.Camper. This package requires the removal of both sets of rear seats but comes with basically everything you could need whether you want to work or play. The Buzz.Camper features a fully equipped kitchen with a sink and fridge and a surprisingly spacious dining and entertainment area that can be converted into a bedroom. And, as with all the kits, there’s plenty of “thoughtful” storage. The only thing it’s missing is a dedicated bathroom.
