67 Chargers Earn Academic All-Region 4 for Spring Semester
Sixty-seven Sandburg student-athletes earned Academic All-NJCAA Region 4 honors for the 2024 spring semester. Honorees had to achieve at least a 3.0 grade point average and pass a minimum of 12 credit hours to earn the distinction. Among Sandburg’s recipients, 44 had a GPA of 3.50 or better. Nineteen Chargers had a perfect 4.0 GPA, and each Sandburg team was represented within that group of student-athletes with an unblemished GPA.

Tornado Warnings Around the Tri-Counties Illinois
A Radar indicated tornado warning has been issued for parts of Rock Island, Mercer, Whiteside and Henry Counties. The warning is currently from the Quad Cities to Atkinson but the warning is expected to extend southeast. VERY strong winds have been confirmed with these storms. Lawmakers say two recently passed bills save motorists time, enhance convenience
(The Center Square) – The Illinois legislature voted to provide motorists an option at the DMV of a four-year or eight-year driver’s license. They also approved the option of having a digital driver's license. State Sen. Andrew Chesney, R-Freeport, who supported Senate Bill 275, said the eight-year license is double the cost, but the time savings and convenience will be attractive to many motorists. Former CFO of Chicago’s Loretto Hospital charged with $15M wire fraud
Anosh Ahmed, formerly the CFO of Loretto Hospital from 2018-2021, has been charged with 11 counts of federal wire fraud. He is charged alongside the hospital’s former chief transformation officer, Heather Bergdahl, and Sameer Suhail, the former CEO of medical supply company Foresight Health and a personal friend of Ahmed. The trio faces 14 counts of wire fraud, with a maximum sentence of 20 years for each count.
