The Junior Volleyball Association has announced its annual watch list, which includes 4,350 girls indoor junior volleyball players from across the United States. The list included several local players, including four from Champlin Park, two from Maranatha Christian Academy and one from Robbinsdale Armstrong.
Class of 2024
Maranatha Christian Academy’s Destiny Wiggins was a notable inclusion on the senior class list, after a big season for the Mustangs. Wiggins recorded 278 kills, 86 aces and 140 digs and she was featured in 91 total sets last season to conclude her time with Maranatha volleyball.
Class of 2025
Carly Gilk was a powerhouse threat for Champlin Park last season. The junior racked up 410 kills, 22 assists, 50 aces, 208 digs, and 32 total blocks as Champlin Park battled its way to the section final last fall.
Reese Axness is also featured. Axness was Champlin Park’s master setter and remains a key player for the Rebels heading into the 2024 season. In addition to her setting work, culminating in 897 assists, Axness earned 39 kills last season.
Champlin Park’s Kathryn Adler was another key piece for the Rebels, adding 199 kills and 45 blocks this season to round out a stellar junior class.
Ashley Yost is Maranatha’s second player on this year’s list. Yost contributed 59 assists, scored 95 aces, and completed 414 digs this season as the Mustangs competed for conference and section glory.
Class of 2026
Robbinsdale Armstrong was represented by Sarahya College on this year’s Junior Volleyball Association watch list. Armstrong ended last season with a 13-12 overall record, 2-3 in Northwest Suburban B Conference play.
Class of 2027
Rebels freshman Lucy Howe also made the list. Howe made varsity appearances this year with a strong Champlin Park team, registering two kills from seven attempts.
