Robbinsdale Cooper High School senior Luna Moon has organized a diaper drive with the help of Helping Us Grow, which is the local partner for the Diaper Bank of Minnesota.

The drive will continue through the end of May.

HUG also offers home visits and connects people to various local resources. Moon said the donations at Cooper High School will be split between Cooper High School community members and the Diaper Bank of Minnesota.

The goal is to collect 1,000 diapers by the end of the month.

“Whatever they can give would make our day amazing and for those that will be using this type of stuff, from toys, diapers, to whatever they feel [they can donate],” Moon said.

According to the Diaper Bank of Minnesota, one in three children in the state don’t have adequate access to diapers. One in two families in the nation struggle with giving their babies diapers. When this happens, families are forced to reuse soiled diapers or let their babies sit in diapers for a longer time.

People who struggle with diaper insecurity in District 281 can email melodie_hanson@rdale.org to learn about what resources might be available to them. Moon said if there are students at Cooper High School who would be more comfortable talking to a fellow student should reach out directly to her at lailanvirula@gmail.com.

To donate, stop by the office at Cooper High School, 8230 47th Ave N, New Hope.
