Both the Armstrong and Cooper softball teams picked up one win each last week amid a busy midseason schedule, peppered with postponements due to weather.

    Armstrong

The Falcons continued to pursue their best last week, amid a period with its share of wins and losses. The week started with a 7-2 loss to Rogers on the road, with Ella Cooley and Lexi Madson scoring Armstrong’s runs.

The team then turned to non-conference opponents DeLaSalle, who the Falcons bested 7-1. Cooley pitched six innings and hit two RBI while scoring a run of her own as well. Aubrey McLouden scored one run, as did Gabriella Berns, Sam Lind, Madison Fondow and Brianna Dumas. Peyton Erickson had an RBI as well.

Armstrong ended a busy week with a 3-2 loss to Maple Grove. The Crimson looks to match or improve on their Class AAAA third-place finish last year. The Falcons ended the week with a 3-6 conference record, 5-7 overall.

Armstrong will play three games the following week, traveling to Blaine on Tuesday, May 7, before hosting Wayzata and Elk River on May 8 and 9, respectively.

    Cooper

The Hawks have stayed busy amid the middle stretch of the season, earning their first win of the season against St. Croix Prep in 19-7 fashion on April 27.

Last week, Cooper played three games, starting with a difficult conference loss to conference-leading Holy Angels. They then traveled to St. Paul Johnson on May 1, earning their second win of the season with a blockbuster 21-3 win against the Governors. This adjusted their overall record 2-9.

Cooper will play three games next week, traveling to Edison, Fridley-Columbia Heights, and Visitation on May 6, 7, and 9 respectively.
