ROBBINSVILLE, NJ - The 911 system that keeps Robbinsville and Hightstown residents in communication with first responders will get an upgrade as they merge their Police Headquarters into one buillding, thanks to $600,000 in state funding delivered by the 14th Legislative District delegation in the most recent New Jersey State budget.

On Wednesday, Senator Linda Greenstein (D-Mercer/Middlesex), joined with Assemblywoman Tennille R. McCoy as well as several local and police officials, to announce what they termed "the most efficient utilization of taxpayer dollars."

“Without this funding, Robbinsville and Hightstown would be forced to spend more over the long run, having to pay for the costly reinstallation of outdated equipment into a shared headquarters followed by the subsequent replacement and installation of up-to-date equipment,” Greenstein, who also serves as Chair of the Senate Law and Public Safety Committee, said. “With the support of the state, this transition can be completed in a way that gives taxpayers more bang for their buck, while giving our emergency response workers the modern equipment needed to best ensure public safety.”

“This investment will protect our communities by enhancing the local 911 system, a critical factor in achieving a level of safety and well-being for our residents. McCoy added.“When dealing with matters as important as emergency services, it’s critical that we make decisions and allocate resources in a proactive manner such as this one.”

Assemblyman Wayne DeAngelo shared in the statement that funding the upgrades was an important step in addressing "the infrastructure of our emergency response system. “The allocation of these funds will minimize the potential costs that would be incurred through years of repairs. Upgrading the system today will help us save money in the future.”

Robbinsille Township Mayor and Director of Public Safety thanked the legislative trio, saying that the Township was grateful for their efforts to secure the funding.

"There is no greater charge than keeping our residents safe, and this extensive communications upgrade will be a pivotal component of that safety infrastructure as we join with neighboring Hightstown in relocating our police and municipal court facilities to the former Roma Bank building on Route 33," Freid said, adding his thanks to all of the staff that "helped usher this grant to the finish line as part of the Fiscal Year 2025 budget.”
