One of the Davis stabbing victims that died was homeless and the other was 20-year-old Davis University student Karim Abou-Najim. A third victim is in critical condition after being stabbed through her tent, according to Yolo County Office of Education PIO Anthony Volkar.

Two of the three victims were unhoused, according to social media sources.

“Apparently a serial killer targeting homeless people at my alma mater right now,” one Twitter account said.

Davis Police received a 911 call about a stabbing at a homeless encampment last night on 2nd Street and L Street, according to Volkar. He said the suspect stabbed her more than one time through a tent.

“The woman was transported to the UC Davis Medical Center and is in critical condition,” Volkar said.

The FBI and Department of Justice have begun assisting local law enforcement along with police officers on rotating 12-hour shifts and patrols have been added all over town, according to the City of Davis

The city said police and investigators are working on three crime scenes, collecting evidence, gathering statements and going through tips and a sketch is currently in the works and will be distributed soon.

The shelter-in-place orders have been lifted even as police have yet to make any arrests.

Police described the suspect as a male with a light complexion, curly hair, between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall and a thin build.

The suspect was last seen wearing a dark hoodie, black Adidas-style pants with a white stripe, black shoes and a brown backpack.

A person of interest has been taken into custody on unrelated charges as police continue searching for the other suspect. Officials have not officially linked all three stabbings together.
