Indiana University Women’s Soccer holds off Ball State 2-1 The Indiana University Women’s Soccer team improved to 2-0 on the season with 2-1 win over the Ball State Cardinals Tuesday Night at the Briner Sports Complex in Muncie, Indiana. The Hoosiers will have a week off before Hosting Wright State next Thursday Afternoon at 4:30pm at Bill Armstrong Stadium. Ball State is 1-1 on the season and will travel to Bulter on Thursday. Indiana scored 2 goals in the first 7 minutes of the match. Sophomore Midfielder Kennedy Neighbors scored her second goal in as many games at the 3:56 mark with the assist to Layla Sidrah who assisted on Neighbors game winning goal last Thursday against Tennessee. Freshman Haden Vleck scored her first career goal in just her second game at the 6:18 mark with Sidrah getting her third assist in just her second career game. Ball State got one back at the 28:08 when Addie Chester went lower left to get it back Indiana Goalkeeper Jamie Gerstenberg to make it to 2-1 as neither team found the back of the net in the second half.

More Pennsylvania children to receive free school meals this year
PENNSYLVANIA, USA — More Pennsylvania schoolchildren will be receiving free school meals this year thanks to an expansion of a national funding program. The threshold for the national Community Eligibility Provision for free school meals will decrease this year. Only 25% of students in a school district will now have to be eligible for free meals for the district to qualify for additional federal funding. The threshold was previously 40%.

Part of Rt. 51 in Jefferson Hills is going to be shut down this weekend
JEFFERSON HILLS, Pa. (KDKA) -- Drivers in the South Hills need to get ready for a stretch of Route 51 in Jefferson Hills to be shut down this weekend.Starting Friday night at 10 p.m., a short stretch of the road will close in both directions for the entire weekend. The road is being closed so that bridge beams can be installed to the Mon-Fayette Expressway that sits high above Rt. 51.The portion of the road that will be closed is from Worthington Avenue to Peters Creek Road. It's expected to reopen on Monday morning at 5 a.m. A spokesperson for the Pa. Turnpike Commission tells KDKA that the detour around the closure is nearly 15 miles.The posted detour will direct drivers to use Rt. 837, Rt. 885, and Lebanon Church Road.The road is expected to be shut down again for another weekend in early September.
