Roby resident Dawn Mayberry was chosen to be part of the popular series, “The Chosen.”

Earlier this year, Mayberry and her sister Donna Novack (of Phoenix, Ariz.) saw a notice online concerning extras needed for the show, and they jokingly applied. Much to their surprise, they got a call indicating they had been accepted.

The two received instructions about how to supply their own appropriate attire and were told to be in Goshen, Utah, in April (also on their own dime, since only lead actors get paid to be on the show).

The Chosen is an American Christian historical drama television series created, directed and co-written by filmmaker Dallas Jenkins. It’s the first multi-season series about the life and ministry of Jesus and allows viewers to see Him through the eyes of those who knew Him.

Primarily set in Judaea and Galilee, The Chosen includes scenes and dialogue directly from scriptures of the Bible, but also includes other dialogue. It is made possible by the non-profit Come and See Foundation, which funds production of the show by taking in tax deductible donations.

The Chosen is billed as the largest crowd-funded media project of all time, and thanks to the donations, Jenkins and the Foundation are able to make sure the series can be viewed for free (information on where to find it is available online).

The episode Mayberry and her sister will appear in will be part of Season 5, which will likely begin appearing in theaters in early 2025 and be streamed in around May of 2025.

Mayberry is a mother of two daughters and grandmother to four. She is an Army veteran of 16 years, a recently retired Nuclear Technical Nurse from Fort Wood Hospital, and lives in Roby with her husband, retired army veteran, M.Sgt. Stan St. Clair. Mayberry attends Palace Union Church in Evening Shade where she is the Sunday School and Ladies Bible Study teacher.
