LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — An 8-year-old boy, one of nine people injured in the June 15 mass shooting at a Rochester Hills splash pad, is out of the hospital and back at home.

The boy suffered critical injuries in the shooting, which officials said was random. Officials with the Oakland County Office of the Sheriff said they’re not releasing the boy’s name.

His mother, a 39-year-old woman from Rochester Hills, suffered serious injuries while trying to shield her children from the gunman.

The 39-year-old mother and another woman, age 30, are the only two victims of the shooting who are still in the hospital.

The gunman, a 42-year-old man from Shelby Twp., killed himself not long after the shooting.
