DOVER — Jason Levesque of Rochester was indicted Thursday on charges alleging he shot a neighbor six times in April, according to Joachim Barth, assistant Strafford County attorney.

Levesque, 44, has been incarcerated since his arrest April 8, four days after the shooting that resulted from a dispute between neighbors over snow plowing on Summer Street in Rochester, according to police and prosecutors.

On Thursday, a Strafford County Superior Court grand jury indicted Levesque on two Class A felony charges: attempted murder and first-degree assault. The indictment means the grand jury found enough evidence to warrant a trial.

The shooting of 37-year-old Kyle Violette, who was severely injured, was captured on multiple videos. Violette appeared in court earlier in the week, as defense attorney Mark Sisti requested bail for Levesque, stating his actions were in self-defense and calling Violette the aggressor.

Violette, who was in court in a wheelchair, called Levesque a liar. After the hearing he said he had been hospitalized for six weeks and has damage that will be lifelong, stating he may never walk again.

Assistant County Attorney Sarah Deitelhoff argued the facts of the case support the request for bail to be denied until trial.

Judge Anne Edwards did not immediately announce a decision on the request to grant bail to Levesque. Barth said Edwards has been in trial, and he did not expect a decision Thursday.

Sisti said Thursday that he will comment after he sees the indictment.
