ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) — Lows will stay high tonight, only dipping into the mid-70s with high humidity. It will be another hot and sticky night for those without A/C. A few overnight showers and even a few rumbles of thunder aren’t fully out of the question either.

Sunday, we’re expecting two rounds of storms one into the late morning and early afternoon, the second in the early evening as a cold front moves through. Both pose risks for severe weather, especially through the Finger Lakes.

The main threats will be damaging winds which can cause scattered power outages, especially as we see these form into a line of storms as they develop and move east. Small hail up to the size of a quarter, and heavy rain that could lead to pooling and ponding in some areas are also expected. There is also a non-zero tornado risk with these storms too, a brief spin-up tornado is possible.

Into the work week, Monday will be the coolest day we’ve seen in some time with highs likely remaining in the 70s as winds shift out of the north. A few showers and maybe a thunderstorm are likely into the morning and early afternoon along with partly to mostly cloudy skies.

Tuesday we’re dry during the day and shoot back up temperature wise into the mid-80s. A few showers and storms are possible later in the day and overnight into Wednesday. For Wednesday during the day this time more widespread showers and storms look likely with highs in the mid-80s again. Thursday once again we cool off into the 70s with a break in the rain. Friday we stay dry with highs near 80.

Next weekend holds our next chance for rain, along with a return to some balmy mid-80s.
