Local business hosts grand opening at Marketplace Mall

A new Marketplace Mall tenant hosted its grand opening on Monday.

Miss Sweet Potato Pie World, a center for children’s entertainment and education that will host birthday and graduation parties and other celebrations, is near the mall’s east entrance.

In addition to an appearance by Miss Sweet Potato Pie, the grand opening will feature DJ music, food and party favors.

The business is the brainchild of Dianne Snowden-Johnson, a teacher in the Rochester City School District who has been performing as Miss Sweet Potato Pie at events around town for more than two decades.

Regular business hours will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday; closed Sunday and Monday.
