A 26-year-old man was seriously injured when he was shot early Wednesday morning in northeast Rochester, according to police.

Emergency responders were called to a home on Rialto Street, near Hollenbeck Street, around 12:15 a.m., where it was reported that someone had been shot, said Capt. Adam Radens of the Rochester Police Department. Officers found the injured man, who was shot at least once in his upper body while inside 28 Rialto St., said Rochester Police Capt. Frank Umbrino.

The man suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment. He was listed in critical condition Wednesday morning, Umbrino said.

RPD's Major Crimes Unit is investigating the shooting. Further details were not released.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call 911 or RPD's Major Crimes Unit at (585) 428-7157.

Rialto Street is a residential street in northeast Rochester, located near North Clinton Avenue. The block-long road was also the site of a triple shooting in May , when a man and woman were killed and a third person was seriously wounded.
