ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – One local high school student is working to make a difference in the lives of young kids in his community.

Marquan Grimes is an incoming senior at Edison Career and Tech high school us hosting a youth football camp in an effort to share his passion with others.

Students age 6 through age 12 completely booked the camp’s roster, going through drills led by student athletes.

Grimes says his love for football and community service is what fueled his decision to start the camp.

“Not only do I want them to be great athletes, but I want them to be great humans and I feel like that’s the most important part, you know? Being a student athlete, being educated, being strong. You know as a person, as a young individual so you know that’s what I want them to take back,” Marquan Grimes said.

Local organizations getting in on the fun included Foodlink and WDKX sponsoring today’s event.
