ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The community came out Friday in support of the first pop-up fundraiser for WBER 90.5 FM.

The station is listener and school-supported and has been in the Rochester community since 1985. It’s owned by BOCES and students are the DJs behind the music during the day. The station also offers remote broadcasting services to other districts, including Webster and Fairport.

Friday’s fundraiser involved the station selling off vintage memorabilia such as hats, hoodies, and shirts to raise money to keep the station going.

We don’t get out and about in the community too much because we’re a smaller station, but today is a big day because we’re inviting listeners to come down to the station and pick up some merch that we haven’t had available in five-plus years or so,” said station manager Joey Juisto.

The station broadcasts from Fairport High School and Webster High School every weekday between 10:30 a.m. to 11:55 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
