ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A 16-year-old boy was arrested and charged with assault for a May shooting that sent another teenager to the hospital.

The shooting happened around 4:15 p.m. on May 2. Investigators said a 17-year-old boy showed up at St. Mary’s Hospital with a non life-threatening gunshot wound a short time later.

Police determined the boy was in a group on Clifton Street when a fight broke out. A house was also hit by gunshots, but no one inside was injured.

Investigators identified a 16-year-old boy as the suspected shooter. Police found him on South Plymouth Street Thursday, but they said he ran from the officers. He allegedly threw a loaded handgun during the foot chase.

The boy was arrested and charged with assault and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon for the shooting. He was charged with another count of criminal possession of a weapon for the handgun found during his arrest.
