Rochester getting an official Monopoly game

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The famous Mister Monopoly visited the Strong Museum of Play Friday to announce an official Rochester edition of the popular board game.

Following in the footsteps of other cities such as Las Vegas, Boston, and New York, Rochester will be immortalized by Hasbro in this new version of the game.

The game will have Rochester-specific locations and artwork.

The company said Rochester’s rich history and diverse culture pushed it to pick the city for the newest board, but that’s not all.

“Really it was the local pride that Rochester has,” said John Marano from Top Trumps USA. “In the short time that I’ve been here, it turns out that Rochester really loves Rochester, so because of that and because of the diversity of the institutions, organizations, and businesses in town it was a no brainer for us to come here.”
