ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Skies will remain fairly clear heading into the overnight hours as temperatures fall into the upper 50s. These clear skies could allow for at least some opportunity to see the northern lights. G1 conditions are in the forecast, but a nearly full Moon will make visibility difficult for those without a long exposure camera.

A weak and moisture-starved cold front will turn skies mostly cloudy late morning on Sunday, but that cloudiness won’t last long. Highs are expected to climb back up into the low 80s. Clearing returns later in the afternoon, allowing us to start and end our day with some sunshine. Rain chances with this front are no higher than 10-20%. Temperatures will fall into the lows 60s for overnight lows under mostly clear skies.

Our work week looks to start off dry at least for most of Monday. Some clouds move back into the area in the morning with temperatures starting out in the upper 60s. As temperatures rise back up into the mid 80s, a few showers and maybe a thunderstorm are looking more likely heading into the evening hours and overnight into Tuesday.

Rain will be around much of Tuesday morning with coverage creeping down as the morning goes on. A few storms are also possible through the afternoon and evening as well.

We will have more chances of seeing scattered showers and thunderstorms Wednesday and Thursday with temperatures ranging in the low to mid 80s for highs. These are the two days with the highest chances of rain. Those chances start to fall heading into Friday, but still will remain a chance. Highs will remain in the low to mid 80 range.

    8-Day Forecast

It looks like high pressure will start to dominate our skies heading into next weekend. Temperatures will start their slow trend upward, with highs getting back into the mid to upper 80s for highs for next weekend. There are also some signs of heat starting to build back up heading into the end of July and beginning of August.
