    RPD: Man arrested for ghost gun, relative fought officers during arrest

    ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Two men were arrested, one of them accused of fighting police officers, during a ghost gun investigation.

    On Monday night around 11 p.m., Rochester police responded to the area of Genesee Street and Moran Street for shots fired. Officers said they found a Cadillac driving away fast. After failing to stop the car, officers chased it to Epworth Street where two individuals got out and ran.

    RPD found one of the men on Columbia Avenue They said the suspect tried to resist arrest, but they took him into custody and recovered a loaded ghost gun.

    During the arrest, officers said a relative of the suspect came out of a nearby home and fought them. He was also arrested. A search of his home uncovered multiple homemade firearms parts and equipment.

    Roshawn Nelson, 22, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and resisting arrest. Roderick Nelson, 49, was charged with second-degree obstruction of governmental administration. Roshawn was taken to the Monroe County Jail and Roderick was issued an appearance ticket. Additional charges may be filed later.

    The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call 911.
