There are more historically Black colleges and university football games televised than ever before.

The City of Rochester has tentative plans to announce that for the first time there is a chance to see a game between HBCU teams here in person on Sept. 21.

Posts on Facebook have details about the Frederick Douglass HBCU Football Classic between Albany State University and Central State University, a game that is part of the city's "Weekend of Hope."

The game in September is inside the Rochester Community Sports Complex on Oak Street and kicks off at 1 p.m. Outside the stadium, there will be a three-hour pre-game tailgate party that begins at 9 a.m.

Battle of school bands are common at HBCU football games, and there is one anticipated between the groups from Georgia-based Albany State and Ohio-based Central State, which is about half an hour east of Dayton.

Tickets are $28 and are on sale at eventbrite.com.
