National Cheesecake Day is officially Tuesday, July 30, but Cheesy Eddie's will be celebrating it a few days early.

On Friday, July 26, it will observe the day by giving out free slices of cheesecake ― 3,000 in all. The longtime Rochester bakery has been handing out free cheesecake on National Cheesecake Day since 2012.

For the first time, it will be handing out cheesecake at both of its locations.

Slices will be available in its South Wedge location, 602 South Ave., from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (or while supplies last). Joining in the celebration just down the street at 672 South Ave., Hedonist Artisan Ice Cream & Chocolates will have Raspberry Cheesecake Ice Cream for purchase Friday and throughout the weekend.

Slices will be available at the Cheesy Eddie's location at the Genesee Valley Regional Market in Henrietta from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (or while supplies last). Mortalis Brewing, Macarollin, Union Place Coffee Roasters and Sammies-N-Sweets will also be on hand. Breakfast will be available for purchase starting at 9 a.m., and gourmet mac & cheese, sandwiches and beer will be for sale starting at 11 a.m. The Henrietta location is at 900 Jefferson Road, Building 21; from the Jefferson Road entrance, turn right at Palmer's Direct to You Market.

The 2-ounce slices will be offered on a first come, first served basis, and are limited to one per person. You'll likely be able to choose from two or three flavors ― depending when you visit, you may find original (vanilla), marble, raspberry swirl, key lime or some "pop-up" flavors.

Be prepared to wait in line; last year, more than 150 people were waiting in line when the shop opened, said Stephen Baker, chief operating officer.
