ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Finger Lakes Region has received over $1 million that will go towards social services for vulnerable families.
Governor Hochul announced on Friday that $17.2 million was acquired in awards from the Family-Centered Services initiative, which was meant to strengthen local services and save families from poverty. The funding will help with mental health conditions, disabilities, substance abuse, and homlessness and domestic violence.

Lori VanAuker is the CEO and President of Catholic Charities and Community Services, an organization that helps vulnerable people in the Rochester community. She said in a statement that the organization is thrilled more resources are coming to the community.
“As an agency that has historically served families living in poverty, funding of this magnitude can make a transformational difference to the lives of the people we serve,” VanAuker said. “We look forward to our continued partnership with New York State and our local Department of Human Services.”
