BETTENDORF, Iowa — The Iowa Board of Medicine has agreed to reinstate the license of a physician criminally charged with sexually abusing a patient. In December 2018, Dr. Venkateswara Karuparthy, a pain management physician from Bettendorf, was criminally charged with sexual abuse in Rock Island County, Illinois. Prosecutors alleged that in August 2018 he fondled a female colleague at Integrative Pain Centers while providing medical care to the woman. Shortly after the charges were filed, Karuparthy agreed to refrain from practicing medicine in Iowa.

Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17), U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL), U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) today announced a total of $25,415,095 in U.S. Department of Transportation funding for the Rock Island County Metropolitan Mass Transit District (MetroLINK) and the Greater Peoria Mass Transit District. United Way Quad Cities awarding 12 local organizations more than $144K
On Wednesday, July 10, United Way Quad Cities announced it would administer more than $144,000 in grant funding to a dozen local organizations. To be eligible for the funding, the organizations had to help provide emergency food, shelter and rental assistance in Scott and Rock Island Counties.
