CSP sounds alarm about increase in deadly motorcycle crashes
Authorities are sounding the alarm about deadly motorcycle crashes in our state. According to Colorado State Patrol, there have been 21 fatal motorcycle incidents this year. Historically, there is an increase in traffic deaths in the month of July, but the first two weeks of the month saw a drastic increase. The percentage of all deadly motorcycle crashes investigated by CSP Troopers rose by 37.5 percent. Six of the 16 deadly crashes involved a motorcycle. Industry groups challenge BLM’s new public lands conservation rule
Several industry groups are challenging a new rule from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) that puts conservation on equal footing with other uses on agency-managed lands. Traditionally, companies have sought leases for various uses on BLM’s 245 million acres, including mining, logging, grazing, oil and gas drilling and recreation. Now, under the new Public Lands Rule which went into effect in June, parties can also apply for leases to do “restoration” or “mitigation” work.

Young at Heart Community Campfire set for Friday
The Young at Heart Community Center will host a Community Campfire this Friday, July 26. The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. at 2400 Regan Ave. in Rock Springs. Attendees will receive a free s’more kit, and children must be accompanied by an adult. The event promises a delightful evening for friends and family to enjoy together. It is a potluck, so participants are encouraged to bring a dish or dessert to share. Young at Heart will provide hot dogs, buns, condiments, and s’mores. Cornhole boards will be set up for everyone to play during the campfire.
