DES MOINES, Iowa — Gov. Kim Reynolds will be in northwest Iowa again on Thursday, touring the communities suffering from devastating flooding. She is being joined by Federal Emergency Management Agency Administrator Deanne Criswell.

Reynolds and Criswell will be visiting Rock Valley and Cherokee in the morning as they meet with local officials and walk around the community to see the damage for themselves. Rock Valley residents were forced to evacuate early Saturday morning because recent heavy rains caused the Rock River to flood. Boats were used to reach some of the stranded residents.

Thursday afternoon, Gov. Reynolds and Administrator Criswell will travel to Spencer. The town flooded when the Little Sioux River spilled over its banks , essentially cutting off one half of the town from the other.

The Governor is expected to speak about recovery efforts in the flood-impacted communities and what assistance she’ll be seeking from FEMA.
