Ohio University student cheats death after shark bite on 4th of July beach trip
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — An Ohio University student is recovering after being bitten by a shark on July 4 while vacationing in Florida. "it just felt like something was clamping down, stabbing both sides," 21-year-old Connor Baker said as he talked about the shark attack that happened July fourth weekend at New Smyrna Beach, Florida. "I didn't really feel the bite, until I got in the ambulance, when everything slowed down and my adrenaline was gone."

Columbus police have released new details in the case of a Pickerington mother killed trying to stop the theft of her vehicle with her son inside. Alexa Stakely, 29, died early Thursday morning after she was struck by her own SUV. Stakely was picking up her 6-year-old son from her babysitter's residence on the 6300 block of Blue Knoll Drive at the White Oak Park Condominiums at about 1:30 a.m. Thursday following a waitressing shift.
