Rockdale County is set to host a Youth Juneteenth Celebration aimed at empowering local youth. During a recent segment of The Rashad Richey Morning Show , Director of Rockdale Parks and recreation Rockdale County, Jason Redmond , NFL defensive lineman Julius Williams and two-time Super Bowl star Anthony Smith joined the program to discuss the upcoming event.
Scheduled for tomorrow at the Johnson Park Recreation Center, 1781 Ebenezer Road, Conyers, Georgia, the event will run from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mr. Redmond emphasized the celebration's focus on empowering youth through education and engagement.
"This celebration aims to empower our youth," Mr. Redmond stated. "In addition to festivities, we'll provide educational sessions for parents on scholarships and financial literacy."
Mr. Smith and Mr. Williams, founders of a youth sports mentoring nonprofit established in 2015, expressed excitement about participating in the event.
"We started this nonprofit to give back and inspire kids to dream big," Mr. Williams explained. "Events like the Youth Juneteenth Celebration are crucial for showing support to our youth."
Ms. Gill noted the event's local accessibility. "It's convenient and accessible for the community," she remarked.
Mr. Redmond outlined event details, noting pre-registration spots are filled but walk-up registrations will be accepted. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
The Youth Juneteenth Celebration commemorates a significant historical event while inspiring future generations. With education, mentorship, and community engagement, the event promises to uplift local youth.
