BELVIDERE, Ill. (WTVO) — Senior citizens who rely on public transit in Boone County will see an expansion of services thanks to a partnership with the Rockford Mass Transit District (RMTD).

The Boone County Demand Response Service, which provides door-to-door service for seniors, is increasing its hours from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and adding 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. service on Saturdays.

RMTD also said it would be ceasing operation of the Number 24 Belvidere route due to low ridership.

Seniors in need of travel from Rockford to Belvidere can take a bus from Rockford’s East Side Transfer Center and schedule a Demand Response Service trip from there, RMTD said.
