ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — The residents of an 18-unit apartment building all managed to escape safely after a fire broke out Tuesday morning.

According to the Rockford Fire Department, around 2:08 a.m., firefighters responded to a fire alarm at 1118 Furman Street and found smoke coming from a first floor apartment.
