    Weapon found inside car with small child; driver intoxicated, police say

    ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Two people have been arrested on charges of child endangerment, DUI and weapons charges after police allegedly recovered a loaded handgun from a car with a small child inside on Tuesday night.

    According to the Rockford Police Department, around 8:15 p.m., officers with the Specialized Community Oriented Police Enforcement (SCOPE) team stopped a vehicle with four adults and a child inside, near Auburn and Kilburn.

    Charges were authorized for Anthony Strickland, 31, of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and No Valid Firearm Owners Identification, and Stanisha Bryant, 33, for Aggravated Driving Under the Influence and Child Endangerment.

    Both were booked into the Winnebago County Jail.
