ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — ComEd crews are still working to restore power knocked out by storms last weekend.

Utility officials said they have never seen widespread damage but said many customers who lost electricity now have it back.

“We lost 440,000 customers. The good news is that we have restored almost 350,000 of them and today we have achieved that more than 80% restoration rate,” said the President of ComEd Gil Quinones.

The company has called in mutual aid from electrical contractors in Wisconsin and 300 workers from Canada have made their way to Illinois to help with recovery efforts.
