ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Police arrested Jeaven Garrett, 27, for allegedly slamming a woman as well as taking her pistol and ammunition.

On July 17, around 7:30 p.m., officials were called to the 800 block of Barnum Road for a domestic incident. The woman spoke to authorities in the 3100 block of South 4th Street and told them the incident started when the suspect took her keys, phone, handgun and 75 rounds of ammunition.

The victim said she was also slammed into the ground and had visible injuries, according to police.

Officials said they saw Garrett driving a Ford F-150 to the 800 block of Barnum with a child in the front passenger seat with no child’s safety seat.

The suspect told authorities under Miranda that he did take her pistol and ammunition.
