    Tree removal on Illinois 2 in Winnebago County to begin July 22

    DIXON, Ill. (WTVO) — The Illinois Department of Transportation announced Thursday that it will begin clearing trees felled by the weekend storm along Illinois 2 in Winnebago County beginning on Monday, July 22nd.

    Maintenance crews will begin removing trees from Meridian Road to Beltline Road in Rockford.

    Motorists should expect daily lane closures and the reduction of traffic to one lane.

    The National Weather Service has been busy conducting damage surveys across northern Illinois following severe storms that moved through Sunday and Monday evening. While additional surveys will continue in the days to follow, they did confirm that 4 tornadoes touched down in northern Illinois between Sunday and Monday.
