    Police: Armed Rockford man punches woman, glass table breaks

    ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested George Bailey, 48, for allegedly punching a woman in the face.

    On April 13, around 10:20 p.m., officers responded to the 3300 block of Searles Avenue for a domestic incident. The victim told police an argument started the incident.

    After the argument escalated, The victim said she was slapped in the head and her hair was pulled, according to court records.

    The victim told officials the suspect struck her in the face and she began to fight back. As a result, a table with a glass top was knocked over and broken, according to court documents.

    The woman said he had a firearm on his waist but did not threaten her or display it, authorities said.

    Bailey was convicted of felony possession of a firearm on August 26, 2020, in Winnebago County and was sentenced to 10 years. He was paroled in late January 2023 and has a discharge date of January 13, 2026.

    Bailey is being charged with domestic battery with bodily harm and was booked into the Winnebago County Jail on July 30.
