ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — AJ and Ambranette Storr have made their marks on the basketball court, and there’s much more still to come from both of them. Now the Rockford natives are returning to their Rockford roots to leave their mark on Rockford area youngsters.

The brother and sister duo will be hosting a free youth basketball clinic Saturday, August 10 at the Swedish American Riverfront YMCA in downtown Rockford at 200 Y Blvd. The event will run from 10am until 1pm. It’s for children ages 6-14. It’s not only designed to teach basketball skills, but it will also promote healthy habits, include interactive games and offer motivational talks.

The Storr family moved out of Rockford following Ambranette’s sophomore year at Rockford Lutheran. AJ had just finished his eighth grade year. They moved to Kankakee. Their college basketball careers have since taken them to several locations.

AJ played his freshman year at St. John’s in New York. Last season he was with the Wisconsin Badgers where he had a spectacular season leading the team in scoring at 16.8 points per game while throwing down some athletic dunks along the way. He helped the Badgers win 22 games. They also reached the Big 10 Tournament championship game. AJ has since transferred to one of the blue blood programs in college basketball the University of Kansas.

Ambranette has had college stops at Moberly Area Community College, Grand Canyon University, Detroit Mercy and now she’s at Southwest Baptist University in Missouri where she’ll playout her final COVID year. She is rebounding from a torn ACL that caused her to sit out all of last season in Detroit.

Both of the Storr’s joined me for a Zoom interview Tuesday to discus their clinic and their careers. Watch the media player above to view that.

To receive more information on the clinic, email ajamberclinicrockford@gmail.com. Pre-registration is required.
