ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Police arrested Lavern Ragland, 35, for reckless discharge of a firearm among other charges.

On Tuesday, around 10;20 p.m., SCOPE officers responded to an address on Eastgate Parkway for reports of shots fired coming from a vehicle. Officials tried to stop the suspected vehicle on North Rockton Avenue but the car fled, according to a release.

Later, near Andrews Street and Royal Avenue, authorities found the vehicle and took Ragland into custody. Police investigated and found approximately 2 pounds of cannabis as well as currency.

Ragland was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail and is being charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, possession with intent to deliver cannabis and aggravated fleeing to elude officers.
