ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Police say their anonymous tip line to turn in illegal ATVs is working well.

Last week, Chief Carla Redd called for the community’s help in tracking down people driving non-highway vehicles on city streets.

Officials said they received a tip about a citizen who saw a dirt bike and officers were able to impound it.

All ATV and dirt bike owners must register their rides with the city if they do not want them towed. Riders also cannot get gas unless the vehicle is on a trailer.

The person who turned in this driver will get a $200 reward.

Authorities encourage people to continue sending ATV tips to the Rockford Police tipline. To send a tip, text RPDTIP and your tip to 847411.
