August 5th is final day for McDonald's school supply drive
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Time is running short to donate school supplies as part of McDonald's of Ohio's second annual school supply drive. McDonald's locations, including 12 in the Lima area, along with partners Tom Ahl Family of Dealerships and Your Hometown Stations, have boxes ready to be filled with school supplies. You can drop off your donation until August 5, 2024, here at the station (1424 Rice Avenue, Lima, OH), or Tom Ahl on Allentown Road, or any of the McDonald's locations in the region.

Class held at Lima Public Library teaches lead abatement regulations and proper techniques
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - People are learning the proper techniques to remove lead from homes, which could turn into a future business for them. CleanAir RX was teaching a class to people going after a federal certificate for lead abatement to become a Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) contractor. If you are not certified, you can face large fines if you remove lead paint from a home. Besides learning the rules, the participants got some hands-on training to properly remove lead paint from a home. With the certificate, there are a variety of avenues that people can explore.
Mayor Smith talks about progress in making Lima safer
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Lima's mayor gave an update on her administration's work in several areas, including public safety. The City of Lima currently dedicates more than half of its annual budget to safety services. In the first half of the year, nine police officers and five firefighters were hired. Smith's administration has also been involved in securing raises for the Lima Police Department and allowing lateral hires to help bring even more new officers to Lima. She says policy changes aimed at strengthening safety services have been going on since 2021 and appear to be showing positive results.

LIMA, OH (WLIO) - A Lima senior graduate is sharing her success with current students and wants to promote their educational success. 2016 graduate Caterrion Thompson is hosting the "Class of 2016" school supply and backpack giveaway. She and a few other of her classmates are coming together to provide more than 200 students with free school supplies. Thompson was a Lima Senior basketball standout who now plays professionally overseas and has created a foundation to give back to her hometown.

Sally Beauty is a global retail store that distributes professional products for hair, skin, and nails. Springfield Italian eatery will move to downtown Urbana
Eatly, a seasonal Springfield restaurant, will soon move to a larger location in downtown Urbana and open year-round. The restaurant, which has been open at 601 N. Fountain Ave. since 2021, will be “steps off the square” in Urbana, and while it will continue serving its traditional Sicilian fare, owner Tom Thompson said he will add homestyle foods like baked mac ‘n cheese, baked steaks and homemade chicken and noodles, to the menu.
