It was another big week for several Rockford-area stars during the Week 2 football action as things heated up on the football field.
Running backs, quarterbacks, even defenders got into the mix of showing off their strengths this week.

Here is a look at some of the Week 2 top performers from around the Rockford area:
Alec Schlichting, Lena-Winslow
Schlichting rushed for 287 yards and four touchdowns during Le-Win's 44-13 win over Fulton on Friday.
Evan Boettner, Forreston
Boettner rushed for 209 yards to lift Forreston to a 38-0 win over Dakota on Friday night. Forreston got knocked off 28-0 by Fulton in Week 1, but the Cardinals turned it around in Week 2, led by Boettner.
Brayden Knoll, Byron
Knoll had 175 yards and two TDs on just eight carries while sparking Byron to 495 yards rushing during a 49-18 win over Lutheran. Knoll scored on runs of 24 and 26 yards, and he also had runs of 34 and 19 yards in the game.
Grant Gensler, Rochelle
Gensler rushed for 150 yards and three TDs on 22 carries Friday as the Rochelle Hubs pounded out a 36-8 win over Morton. Gensler also had one catch for 14 yards.
Roman Villalobos, Rochelle
Villalobos also had a 100-yard game for the Hubs, rushing for 120 yards on 18 carries, averaging 6.7 yards per carry on the night.
Jahmani Muhammad, Harlem
Muhammad had 107 yards on 18 carries and all three touchdowns as Harlem led Auburn 20-6 with 4 minutes left in the third quarter in a game that was suspended after an altercation between fans behind the stands. The game is scheduled to be resumed 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
Izaus Primus, Guilford
Primus ran for 106 yards and all three touchdowns on 20 carries to lead Guilford (1-1) to a 21-7 win over Belvidere (0-2).
Chris Porter, Guilford
Porter ran for 83 yards on 16 carries in Guilford's 21-7 win over Belvidere. He was part of a Vikings rushing attack that gained 197 yards on 39 carries.
Guilford's defense
Guilford held Belvidere to 62 yards of total offense and less than 2 yards per play in a 21-7 victory. That included minus-10 yards rushing on 11 carries.
Cooper Hoffman, Durand/Pecatonica
Hoffman completed 9 of his 16 passes for 83 yards, and he rushed for 32 yards on eight carries with a touchdown during Durand/Pecatonica's 36-8 win over Eastland/Pearl City.
Forreston's defense
Led by a couple of interceptions from the defensive backfield, the Forreston defense lifted the team to a win on Friday night. The Cardinals held Fulton to three yards of rushing, and 59 yards through the air.
Kurt Smith, Hononegah
The all-conference linebacker had a team-high six unassisted tackles as Hononegah held Jefferson to 95 total yards in a 48-6 victory. Smith also had a team-high 79 yards rushing and two TDs on five carries for Hononegah (2-0).
Lashawn Gathright, Jefferson
Gathright ran for 50 yards on 11 carries for Jefferson (0-2), which had just 95 total yards, in a 48-6 loss to Hononegah. Gathright also scored Jefferson's only touchdown when he blitzed on defense, blocked a pass, caught it in mid-air and returned the interception 72 yards for a touchdown to briefly pull the J-Hawks within 7-6.
8-man
Noah Dewey, Polo
Dewey ran for 73- and 34-yard touchdowns on his only two carries and also scored on a fumble recovery to lead Polo to a 56-0 win over River Ridge in 8-man.
