    In recognition of National Hispanic Heritage Month, the Rockford Register Star has partnered with La Onda, a newly-formed nonprofit organization, to help share and celebrate the impact of Hispanic and Latino people, businesses and organizations in and around the Rockford area.

    Maria Castello's distinguished career in the realm of dance and education showcases her unwavering commitment and profound impact on the artistic community.

    With an impressive tenure of over 30 years as a dancer, choreographer, and educator, she has significantly enriched the cultural landscape across several nations including Argentina, Brazil, Canada and the United States.

    Her academic pursuits culminated in a master’s degree in teaching, complemented by a specialization in bilingual education, which underscores her dedication to creating inclusive and diverse learning environments.
