Students at Rockford Elementary School were among those observing National Bilingual/Multilingual Learner Advocacy Month in April.

The month was a time dedicated to recognizing the rich linguistic diversity that bilingual and multilingual individuals bring to our communities, schools, and workplaces.

“Sarah Day’s classroom at Rockford Elementary has learned all about the benefits of being bilingual,” school officials said. “Students celebrate their linguistic diversity through a collaborative project. These young scholars are not only showcasing the richness of their linguistic heritage but also fostering a culture of inclusivity and understanding.”

The project, named “Being Bi-lingual is My SuperPower” underscores the value of speaking more than one language. From English to Spanish and beyond, these students are showcasing the importance of linguistic diversity.

“Students remain steadfast in their commitment to promoting the positives of speaking more than one language,” officials there said. “Through their creativity, passion, and determination, they are building bridges across languages and cultures, paving the way for a more inclusive and interconnected world.”
