Blount County Sheriff’s Office has released the body cam footage from a Rockford shooting that took place on Tuesday, June 11.

BCSO Deputy Corbin Smith and Deputy Edward Walker were responding to a domestic call on Jacob Springs Boulevard when Ronald Reed Millsaps, 59, allegedly opened fire on the deputies, striking both in the legs.

In a press conference the night of the shooting, Sheriff Berrong said it was their estimate that there were “probably between 150-300 rounds shot at deputies” by Millsaps.

“We had information also that he had weapons at every area of the house; in the windowsills and inside the door — that he was ready for battle,” he said.

Both deputies put tourniquets on themselves while taking cover behind a police vehicle and were rescued by fellow deputies who responded to the scene.

Millsaps, who appeared in court for the first time on Monday afternoon, has been charged with two counts of attempted criminal homicide, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated domestic assault, reckless endangerment and aggravated assault.

He is set to appear in court again at 9 a.m. Aug. 20.
